An original Java applet that will compute pi from scratch to any desired accuracy

author: Steve Merrin

My applet uses Java 1.1 BigIntegers, which have unlimited size, but if you request more than a few thousand digits, you may have to wait longer than you'd like, especially if you have a slow machine. To get a feel for how long it takes, experiment with some smaller values first, such as 1000 digits. Type in the number of places you want and then hit return. The output will be displayed 50 digits per line, grouped into blocks of 500 digits, and you can use the vertical scroll bars.

Would you like to look at the Java program?
